A machine for making fabrics. A schematic representation of the weaving process is shown here.
The loom
Machine for the mechanical production of fabrics, recently called weaving machine; the weaving process develops in the following operations: 1. shedding (division of the warp threads into raised and lowered); 2. weft insertion; 3. weft beat-up; beating up of the last inserted weft against the selvedge by the reed; 4. regulating, i.e. pulling off the warp from the warp beam and winding the fabric onto the cloth beam.
