Hair loss through Beanie - myth or fact?

EmbroideryManufactory the blog
Carrots are good for your eyes, booze helps with digestion, eggs are bad for your cholesterol levels, and constantly wearing Beanies causes hair loss. The list of health myths and half-truths that miraculously persist goes on and on. Today we want to dispel at least one of these myths once and for all: Does wearing Beanies actually cause hair loss?

Beanie causes baldness - everyone has heard this before

Scenario 1

You are visiting your grandparents. You are wearing a Beanie. Seconds after you enter the house, Grandma says, "Take off your Beanie . Your hair is going to fall out!" Embarrassed on the one hand by the ruthless display of your lack of manners, and suddenly panicked at the prospect of ending up bald, you tear the Beanie off your head. Even when you're on your way home hours later and icicles are already growing on your ears, you don't dare put your Beanie back on. After all, the hair is sacred.

Scenario 2

Worn and combined correctly, the polo shirt is one of the classics of casual style. Here you should always keep an eye on the materials used. From natural to synthetic - polo shirts come in a variety of fabrics. Pure silk or silk blends look classy at first glance, but are not suitable for the hot season. Unwanted sweat stains quickly appear on these models - particularly unfavourable for everyday wear in the office.

Scenario 3

You are out with friends. This time, there's also this one guy who always wears a Beanie . If you think about it, you've never seen this guy without Beanie . Well, it's just his style. When you arrive at your favorite bar, you take off your coats. When the Beanies guy takes off his headgear, you suddenly get wide-eyed. The guy is bald! Well, he doesn't have to be surprised if he always wears a Beanie . That's what causes hair loss.
Does Beanies really cause hair loss?
Now let's get something straight: Does wearing Beanies so often actually cause hair loss? Quite simply: No!

There are different types of hair loss. First of all, there is constitutional hair loss - technical term: alopecia androgentica. This is the genetically determined form of hair loss. This results in hormonal hypersensitivity, which shortens and inhibits the growth phase of the hair. Or the diffuse hair loss, diffuse alopecia. Possible triggers are, for example, stress, poor nutrition or side effects of medication. Circular hair loss, on the other hand, is an inflammatory condition - often a symptom of another disease. As the name suggests, the hair falls out in a circle in various places. Then there is the so-called tension hair loss. Tension because here the scalp is permanently tense. As a consequence, the hair root is undersupplied, which leads to hair loss.

Do you notice anything? Beanies-Hair loss is not a scientifically proven form of hair loss.
Conclusion
Admittedly: Somewhere the connection between Beanie and hair loss is obvious. After all, people with little or no hair wear Beanies comparatively often. It's a bit like asking: Which came first? The hen or the egg? At this point, a quote from a medical specialist is appropriate. Dr. med. Frank-Michael Hasse, a specialist at the Hair Wish Center in Braunschweig, Germany, once said: "Many men who suffer from hair loss and thinning areas like to wear Beanie to conceal it. So it can easily happen that cause and effect are confused with each other. It's not the headgear that's to blame for the hair loss, but rather the hair loss at Beanie." Means no hair loss due to Beanies, but Beanies are good to conceal hair loss.
